C.1865. A plain homemade corset cover with the original owner'sinitials
in red embroidered on it.
It's made out of white cotton with narrow crochet trim around the scooped neckline
. The sleeves are short and the corset cover is fitted with darts at the front. The back
is plain. The cut and length is the same as the bodices of the period. The waistline became slightly raised during the mid 1860's (it was thought to
be reminiscient of the Empire style of the Regency era), and this corset cover reflects that style. The front fastens with hook and hand worked loops.
The bust measures 37" and the waist is about 29".
