A c.1865 bodice made out black silk taffeta with a thin brown pinstripe. Lace ( I *think* it's bobbin lace) decorates the collar
and sleeve cuffs. The front of the bodice fastens with hooks n eyes, with 8 non functional buttons decorating the front.
The buttons are removable and have fastenings to take them off the bodice. They are made of white glass, with a silver colored circle pattern.
of the bodice is lined in brown glazed cotton and is boned with whalebone.
The collar and armseyes are piped as was typical of the era.
The bodice is in poor to fair condition and is not wearable. It is suited to display, pattern taking or study as it is a good example of mid 19th century dress. The lace and buttons are salvegeable. There is damage and splits
to the taffeta all over, as well as poorly done repairs.
Measurements: Shoulders 17", Bust 36", Waist 28", Length approx. 16 3/4".
