Silk Faille Day Bodice

Silk Faille Day Bodice
c. 1876- 1877. Bodice made of silk faille and lined in white silk with a silk moire stay band inside. Typical styling of the mid 1870's with a long peplum to go over the bustle. Has a 1 1/2" high "Johnny Collar" which became fashionable at the end of the 1870's. Trimmed with satin and lace on the cuffs and has shiny jet buttons down the front. It's in excellent condition, no rips or tears, no underarm damage to the outside fabric and the fabric is still strong enough to be worn! Has very, very light wear as you would expect of something 130 years old but nothing serious. It's a large size as well and will fit someone of about 5'5"- 5'7". It will not fit anyone taller, I'm 5'9" and even though the bust and waist measurements should too big for me, I cannot get this on. My sister is 5'7" and it fits her height and build perfectly but is too large in the waist and bust for her. Measurements: Neck 15", Shoulders 17" (these shoulder seams are slightly dropped, shoulders of 15"- 15 1/2" are ideal), Bust 42". The stayband inside also has two sets of measurements for a fat and skinny day, the smallest being 33" waist and the largest is a 35" waist. (From the collection of Leila Hidic)
