Blue Taffeta Bustle Skirt
C.1883-1884. Bustle skirt made out of blue silk taffeta.
The skirt is cut narrow and tight at the front
and features a false draped "over skirt". The tight front and draped overskirt draws the attention
from the front of the skirt to the bustled back
This skirt would not have needed a separate
bustle support, as there are built in bustle steels in the lining of the skirt. These are adjustable with ties on the inside. The hem
has tight knife pleats and silk velvet trim with silk fringe. There is a hidden pocket on the right
side. Waist is approx. 26"- 28".
