Corset Cover for a Basque Bodice
C.1878-1883. A fitted corset cover made out of crisp medium weight cotton.
This corset cover has short sleeves made of brushed cotton added later. The scoop neckline has a drawstring, and is edged with Broderie Anglaise trim. F.C.
is embroidered in red at the front. Machine sewn with some hand finishing. There are darts at the front and princess seams at the
to fit closely to a corsetted figure and minimize bulk underneath a tight fitting bodice.
The corset cover is made with a slightly longer basque to accomodate the longer tight fitting basque bodices of the late 1870's and
early 1880's. Bust measures approx. 36", waist 26".
