c. 1885. Fitted corset covers hugged the figure and created less bulk under the tight cuirass bodices of the 1880's. This simple corset cover is of soft white cotton with a narrow band of lace around the scoop neckline and armholes.
It fastens down the front with 7 milky colored glass buttons (the 8th button is missing) and the body is fitted with darts at the front and princess seams at the back
. There is also a very slight peplum to go over a bustle at the back.
Measurements: Shoulders 16"- 16 1/2", bust 42 1/2" (a bust of 38"- 41" would be ideal),
waist 36" but this had to fit over your chemise, corset, bustle and bustle petticoat, hence the larger measurement. Length is approx 17".
