C.1898 dinner/evening dress. Made of a very heavy silk satin damask with jacquard like pattern with silk velvet trim. The bodice is fully boned and had been renovated by a theater company before I rescued it. They had lengthened the short sleeves to make them elbow length, taken in the neckline to make it not so revealing, took in the bodice from a 44" bust to 41" and cut the bodice shorter for a shorter person (it originally would have been
worn by a tall curvy lady like me
The skirt is bell shaped, as was the style in the late 1890's and has a
35" waist (has a hidden pocket on the left side where it opens). The bottom of the skirt has horsehair woven into the hem of the skirt which makes it very heavy!
