C.1890-1892. This is a transitional bodice from the 1880's bustle era to the 1890's tailored hourglass era. The bodice is still cut like a bustle era bodice with plain straight sleeves (although there is a slight kick up at the shoulder), long basque, short stand up collar,
and is quite fitted, with darts and pleats. Decorated with bands of glossy jet trimming and matte colored buttons. May have been a bodice for the later stages of mourning. Would have been worn by a middle aged lady about 5'5"-5'7". Bust measures 44", waist 32 1/2", 14" shoulders.
