C.1912 Edwardian evening gown. Ivory silk satin with square neckline
. Lightly pleated chiffon across neckline. Each shoulder
is edged with lace. Chiffon sleeves gathered at top and draping below with pearl drops. Pleated wrap around middle of bodice with hooks at one side.
Tiered hobble style skirt
with tucks at one side to create asymetrical line. Fishtail train at back
of skirt that snaps up into the skirt
Interior waist belt
in silk tissue. Back neckline has silk guaze modesty panel. Top of bodice is trimmed with beading. Underskirt of silk tissue with pleated silk hem with inset lace crosses around hem.
Under the pleated silk underskirt
, little pale blue silk
envelope pockets have been stitched to add weight to the hem
of the lining. Each pocket
is delicately hand sewn with front flaps and mother of pearl buttons.
Inside each pocket is a little ivory silk pillow. Very unusual and delicate. A very beautiful dress with great attention to detail.
