C.1915. A light green cotton twill newborn corset or "stayband". These were a carryover from previous times when babies were swaddled. A growing baby was thought to need the support. Staybands were worn by little boys and girls up to the age of about 4-5. Girls where then put into corsets.
This little stayband would have been worn by a newborn baby and has white lace trim and 3 milk glass buttons at the front to attach various peices of underwear and a diaper. Adjusts at the back
Measures 16" around the chest and 15" around the waist. 4 1/2" long at the front (not including the shoulder straps).
